Proper Use of Fire Extinguishers
To use the fire extinguisher correctly, the following steps should be followed:
• The fire extinguisher is brought to the fire scene and the wind should blow from behind.
The fire should be approached as close as possible.
The pin that locks the trigger mechanism is removed or the valve of the carbon dioxide cylinder is turned to the left.
The trigger is pressed all the way.
The resulting powder or gas is sprayed towards the fire scene.
The fire is extinguished from front to back.
The fire scene should not be left without making sure that the fire is extinguished.
Powdered devices are emptied until the powder is finished.
